Curriculum Intent

Our Curriculum

Together we can…

At Cleves Cross Primary and Nursery School we believe that our ethos of β€˜Together we can…’ ensures that each and every child achieves.

Our curriculum is bespoke to the needs of our pupils, not only by focussing on appropriate subject specific knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum, but by also providing extracurricular experiences that seek to nurture talents and abilities and prepare our children for life in modern Britain.

Our aim is to create a happy, secure and sustainable environment where children can explore, investigate, listen and discuss in order to become independent, mature and well-motivated learners. They develop positive attitudes, think critically and make valuable contributions, as global citizens, to our community and the wider world.

Our curriculum is designed to ensure we meet these aims and that children become life-long learners. From the earliest years in school, right through to being ready to move on to the next stage in their education, our pupils learn and develop through progressive, engaging study. The curriculum builds the skills and knowledge that give children the tools to thrive. Experiences are planned to immerse pupils in their learning – academic and social – and these are carefully chosen to enable pupils to appreciate the wealth of culture and diversity in their local area and the wider world enhanced by our international school links and projects.

Integral to our school is our Rights Respecting and Eco-School ethos. Our curriculum encompasses these in both explicit teaching of themes and implicit references across other curriculum areas. We timetable special activities across each year to celebrate and highlight our learning and these enhance our day-to-day classroom activities too.

When designing our curriculum provision, we have ensured that learning is structured and developmental; relevant and engaging; challenging, aspirational and accessible to all. At the heart of our curriculum is our commitment to the well-being of the whole school community and to nurturing the talents and individuality of everyone.

Curriculum Plans

Long Term Plans:

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Cleves Cross Primary School, we believe that inclusive education means providing all pupils with appropriate education and support alongside their peers. The Curriculum is all the planned activities that the school organises in order to promote learning, personal growth and development.

Further information can be found in the Teaching, Learning and the Curriculum section of the SEND Information Report.

If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.

We are very proud to be able to share with you that we have, for the 8th time, been awarded an Eco-Schools β€˜Green flag with distinction’. The eco-schools team have given us lovely feedback. They were particularly impressed with our involvement with the tubs2pubs campaign, our litter picking events and how well the whole school got involved with β€˜Earth Day’. They said: β€˜You have shown as a school you are incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic about keeping our planet safe for the next generation. You are all superstars!β€™πŸŒŸπŸŒβ™»οΈ

To our amazing Year 6 class of 2026,

As you leave primary school behind, take a moment to look back on all the memories you have made. From your first days of learning and growing, to the friendships, laughter, challenges and achievements that have shaped you, every moment has helped make you the incredible people you are today.

You have shared countless smiles, supported each other through ups and downs, and created friendships that will stay with you long after you leave these classrooms. The playground games, the funny moments, the lessons learned and the memories made will always be a special part of your journey.

Although it is time to move on to new adventures, remember the friends who walked beside you, the teachers who believed in you, and the wonderful memories you created together. Carry your kindness, courage and confidence with you as you begin the next chapter.

Class of 2026, be proud of how far you have come. Dream big, stay true to yourselves, and never forget the special bond you shared as a Year 6 class.

Good luck for the future β€” you will always be remembered.
