Gillian’s Pen Portrait

I am employed in the Funding Directorate of the Education and Skills Funding Agency and am a DfE Accessibility Champion Advocate. After attending the universities of Durham, Wales, Sheffield Hallam, and York I have a BA Honours degree in education, teaching and post graduate qualifications in various specific learning disabilities, and am qualified to give advice & guidance. I have held posts in local FE colleges, universities, and local authorities: establishing and delivering academic and specialist support services for students; co-ordinating the delivery of family learning programmes in Co. Durham primary schools and across North Yorkshire; and contract managing providers of devolved adult education across the Tees Valley. I have also volunteered as a pastoral tutor to first year students at Durham University. My particular interest is inclusivity, the support available to enable all students to maximise their potential and the training for staff to facilitate this.
